talent

Not that I have many of them but the few talents that I do got I work with a ferocity that should be inspiring. Of course, none of them are the cool ones you can show off, like having an amazing voice or being an amazing athlete.

Well, actually, I’m a great driver (when other cars aren’t getting in the way) but I don’t think I’ll ever be in a situation in which I might need to demonstrate my totally awesome ability to navigate speedily and safely away from a dangerous situation. Also, with my age and subsequent accidents, I’ve become a more mature and cautious driver since my last altercation with another vehicle.

Another thing: I type like a demon! I’m one of those people you hate sitting next to you in lecture because I hit each key with emphasis and type so speedily while you gape and glare, distracted from your own chicken-pecking note-taking because I’m just so damn impressive.

Verbally, I’m a whiz. Between my intelligence, knowledge of literary/cultural/historical references (and ability to Google) and sarcastic wit, give me a topic or awkward situation in which I must mutter my zingers under my breath and I’m on fire.

My imagination is of the top-notch variety. Actually, when in conversation with me, don’t even kid yourself into thinking that my mind is completely focused on you. It’s totally not. It’s probably somewhere else, back in my room maybe, sitting at my desk writing.

I get excited about silly things like craft making and dancing and books. I think I’m kind of a neat friend to have but that’s not really a talent.

Physically my talents include crossing my toes, raising one eyebrow, and curling my tongue.

Whether or not any of these (three. I only have three pseudo-talents.) are actually talents is debatable but unfortunately, it’s what I’ve got. Maybe one day I’ll find out that I’m absolutely spectacular at back flips or color coordinating.
